How to Monetize Your Blog for Beginners

Disclosure: Please note that links to merchants mentioned within this post might be using an affiliate link which means that - at zero cost to you - I might earn a commission if you buy something through my links. I never recommend anything I don’t personally use and fully stand behind.

Congratulations on starting your mom blog! I hope you have had a chance to set it all up for success. It has been quite a journey. I know it was for me when I went through the learning curve. By now you have put yourself in front of a nice amount of people. You may have even started your email list. Do not worry if you have not set it up yet. We will work on that.

You should have made at least 15 posts prior to monetizing your blog. These posts should introduce yourself and share some of your ideas with your readers. This is a great way to build up your audience. Once you have established some stability with your blog it is time to start looking for ways to monetize it.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a great way to drive sales and generate revenue. You have the potential to earn commissions for marketing a company’s products and/or services. When someone makes a purchase from your affiliate link, you will then earn a percentage from the sale. If you have no desire to create your own products, this is a great way to earn money.

If you are not sure where to start, go here: shareasale.com. You can look at a variety of companies and choose to be an affiliate for their products. My advice is to choose products and/or services that you actually use and enjoy. Your readers will appreciate your honesty. Here are a few affiliate networks that I use for products and services:

  1. Shareasale
  2. Hostgator
  3. Fiverr
  4. Grammarly
  5. She Bold Stock
  6. Amazon

Your Own Products or Services

Many bloggers are earning money by making their own products or offering services and selling them on their blogs. You can offer printables, how-to’s, templates, home-made products, e-books, services, etc. PayPal is a great way to accept purchases because it is safe for both you and the buyer. It is as simple as adding a link for your personal PayPal

Product Reviews

I encourage you to consider this option throughout your blogging career. We all buy things, right? Many people want to hear other’s opinions on products and/or services that they are considering. You can do both paid product reviews as well as unpaid reviews. You can link the products directly into your blog. As an affiliate, you will earn commissions from these links. If you choose to go this route, make sure that you are covering yourself by adding your blog’s disclaimer that some of your reviews are paid and some are not. Honesty is always the best policy when it comes to product reviews. Your readers are looking to you for advice. Make sure to give them advice from the heart.

Paid Blog Posts

If you enjoy writing unique blog postings this might be an excellent opportunity for you. Once you have proven yourself stable, you may have people reach out to you asking for your help writing posts for their blogs or websites. It is not ideal for everyone, but if this sounds like something you can or want to do, I encourage you to do a bit more research to see you are a good fit.

Advertising

Once you have established your blog and have at least 10,000 unique visitors every month, you can choose to join an advertising network such as Google AdSense, Infolinks, or Media Ad Network. The easiest to join will be the first two. You will not even have to have the 10,000 visitors to be approved.  There are plenty more out there that are suitable for your specific niche. Do a little research around your niche. You are sure to find one that fits your needs.
